I’m Erik Kallevig, a freelance web designer specializing in usable, accessible, and attractive websites.
My goal is to create intuitive web interfaces that are accessible to wide audiences so all users can find and do what they want quickly.
Behind the scenes I write code that makes sense to browsers, search engines, and mobile devices but is also flexible enough to withstand future changes in technology, design, and content.
Design philosophy
My work is founded on the belief that good interface design empowers users to quickly and intuitively achieve objectives regardless of platform, disability or familiarity.
Web standards
I adhere to web standards in my work because they provide lots of benefits. Here are a few:
- Design flexibility (when paired with CSS)
- Search engine visibility
- Reduced bandwidth costs
- Increased accessibility across devices and software
- Efficient maintenance
Tools and coding languages
I use a variety of tools and coding languages including: XHTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery and Prototype), PHP, MySQL, Wordpress, Photoshop. All of these were used in the construction of ekallevig.com.
